Emergent Legal Files Supreme Court Amicus in Strip-Search Case

On behalf of a group of civil rights organizations, including the Human Rights Defense Center, Florida Justice Institute, Inc., National Police Accountability Project, and Southern Center for Human Rights, Emergent Legal has filed an amicus brief at the Supreme Court of the United States encouraging the Court to review a decision of the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit permitting prisons to strip search detainees without any individualized suspicion that they possess contraband -- even if they have not yet been arraigned or have been ordered released.  The Court denied cert in November, but we're grateful for the opportunity to work with these great organizations on an important issue that affects millions of Americans every year.  View a copy of our brief here.  The cert petition by the excellent attorneys at Bancroft PLLC is here.
