MDL Panel Denies Consolidation of Emergent's CleanNet Class Action

In April, Emergent filed a statewide class action against CleanNet, a janitorial franchise company, alleging that CleanNet systematically violated its disclosure obligations under the Franchise Investment Law, breached its franchise agreements, misclassified its employees as franchisees, and violated its employment obligations.  In June, CleanNet sought to consolidate this California action with other class actions brought against it in Illinois and Pennsylvania; Emergent opposed that request.

We're pleased to announce that, today, the federal Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation sided with us and denied CleanNet's request.  The panel's decision leaves this California-based case where it was filed, in California federal district court.
