Accomplished trial and appellate lawyer Patricia E. Ronan heads the Emergent LLP Arizona office and leads the firm's employment law and civil rights practice areas.

Prior to joining Emergent, Patricia worked for prestigious New York City law firms, including Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, focusing on complex corporate litigation for nearly a decade. Throughout her career she has represented protected classes and vulnerable people, including LGBTQ, refugees, and domestic workers.

Patricia’s career has since shifted to predominantly plaintiff's work. At the law firm of Curtis, Goodwin, Sullivan, Udall, & Schwab, PLC, she served as counsel and lead litigator, including for two cases that went before the Arizona Court of Appeals.

Patricia's representative matters include:

  • Employment cases on behalf of employees, from the executive level to low wage employees. Patricia is particularly adept at representing those who have suffered adverse employment conditions or wrongful termination because of their sex, sexual orientation, or race, or who were retaliated against for bringing good faith complaints about discrimination, sexual harassment and assault, wages, and family leave issues.
  • Civil rights cases, including excessive use of force, particularly police shooting and multiple taser discharges, unlawful search and seizure, racial profiling, and First Amendment restraints on speech.
  • Bad faith insurance rejection and wrongful death litigation, including arguing an appeal before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Patricia graduated with honors from Columbia Law School. She is admitted to practice in New York, California, and Arizona, as well as before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts of Arizona and the Southern District of New York.
